The Audio Engineering Society (A.E.S.) is the only association in the world gathering all engineers and students from every branch of Professional Audio. It was founded in 1948 and has active Sections in more than 100 countries.
AES’ main goal is to increase the level of knowledge in the audio community, holding conventions, conferences and exhibitions regularly all over the world.
Andrés Mayo was Chairman of the Argentina Section since 2001, and in 2005 has been elected Vice President for the AES in Latin America, position he held until October 2009 and which entails the biggest responsibility in the region. He has recently been elected Chairman of the President´s Advisory Group (P.A.G.) , reporting directly to the AES President, and Vice Chairman of the Technical Committee for Audio Recording and Mastering Systems (TC-ARMS), whose Chairman is Dr. Kimio Hamasaki (NHK, Japan)
He is also part of the AES Board of Governors, holding meetings twice a year at the International Conventions, each taking place in Europe and in the US respectively. In 2010, the host cities are London and San Francisco.
